Read: Israel is a levantine country

Friday Morning ~ I really do not take the Holy Bible literally in every sense and, as a social scientist of sorts, I cannot do so. Nevertheless, certain negative traits of men have been around and exhibited by men since ancient times.
I would say that the Levantines may be close to the origin of but their descendants do not have a monopoly on organized crime families.
The Mexican Mafia or M&M is strong in the California prison system and known for their high level of discipline that is severely instilled.
Levantine Arabic

Levantine Arabic (sometimes called Eastern Arabic) is a group of Arabic dialects spoken in the 100 km-wide eastern-Mediterranean coastal strip known as the Levant, i.e. in Syria, Palestine, western Jordan and Lebanon. This corresponds to the western wing of the Fertile Crescent, which clearly appears green on satellite photos.
To the East, in the Desert, the North Arabian Beduinic dialects are found. There is no transition to Egyptian dialects in the South due to the Sinai desert. In the North, between Aleppo and Euphrates valley, there may be a transition zone towards North Mesopotamian qeltu dialects (to be confirmed, since the Raqqah dialect in the Syrian Euphrates valley still seems to be quite close to South Iraqi and Beduinic dialects.)

Sorry maybe I don't speak English very well any more. What I meant was that organized criminal activity such as gun running and drugs didn't originate with the Sicilian Mafia. These things were already old in the Middle East when the Mafia started gearing up. Sicily was occupied by Near Eastern powers a long time and it left an impact on the way of thinking, including the idea of "crime families". We have them also, they are indigenous here. Levantines are very good at organized crime on an international scale, and Israel is a levantine country. For example, we are among the world's leaders in "white slavery", the iinternational transportation of women for prostitution. We lead in white collar crimes and, per capita, in computer based criminal activity. Gun running, training private armies, and international drug smuggling are older, more established activities in which Israelis excel.
Bear in mind half our leadership is under or facing criminal indictment, including the prime minister (financial improprieties) and president (rape). Crime has always been, and is increasingly more so, an accepted activity in Israel, especially when its harmful effects impact on non-Jews. (Israelis will care some what happens to Jews, but not a fig for what happens to non-Jews.)
That's the facts of life today. The people who were to be a "light unto the nations" are rapidly becoming an embarrassment. The why of this is complex, the simple answer is selfishness, greed, lack of morality, and no historical tradition of being self-governing. Jews survived for centuries by bending and breaking laws designed to destroy them. It is taking some time to break the habit now that it is no longer needed for survival. Israel is still young, and hopefully can change if it is adaptive to do so.

Yep, of course we have word back here in Israel on this as well. In recent years Israelis have gotten way too involved in this kind of activity, which is the illegal aspect of an international strength in training security forces. With the prevalant corruption in the country today, it is not surprising that security experts are simply going where the money is. Also, there are traditional ties with wealthy Columbian families via the drug trade, in which Israelis are alos involved. What can I tell you....where do you think the Sicilians learned what the Mafia does??

3 Israelis accused of illegal training
Tue Apr 3, 9:03 PM ET
BOGOTA, Colombia - Interpol issued an international arrest warrant Tuesday for three Israelis accused of training private armies of Colombian drug cartels and right-wing death squads, authorities said.
Yair Klein, Melnik Ferri and Tzedaka Abraham were being sought on charges of criminal conspiracy and instruction in terrorism, said Oscar Galvis, spokesman for Colombia's domestic intelligence agency.
The men, who face nearly 11 years in prison if convicted, are accused of helping set up training camps to teach private armies working for drug lords about explosives and high-profile killings. The armies later grew into Colombia's right-wing death squads.
Klein, a former lieutenant colonel in the Israeli army, appeared in a 1998 video used to train far-right squads. In 1991, he was convicted and fined $13,400 by an Israeli court for selling arms to Colombia's illegal groups.
In a recent interview with Caracol television, Klein denied working with the cocaine cartels but confirmed that he did instruct the far-right militias in how to eliminate the leftist insurgency.
He said he was originally hired — with the Colombian Ministry of Defense's blessing — to organize security for the banana industry in the northern region of Uraba.
Klein said, however, that his students "were not trained to kill, only trained to defend themselves."
The Medellin cartel, headed by Escobar, pioneered the use of unrestrained violence in its dealings with enemies and allies alike.
